The average sales of 15 star companies were 15.4 billion won, 3.3 billion won in average exports, 510 million won in average R&D investment and 66 on average. By industry, six smart IT parts companies, It has seven bio-health companies and two transportation, machinery and materials components.

Star companies are ▶5 billion won to 40 billion won in sales ▶ 5 percent or more in average sales growth over the past five years ▶ 1 percent or more of R&D investment, and are excellent small and medium-sized company with high potential for growth as a global small and medium-sized company and a World Class 300 company in the future.

If selected as a star company, a dedicated Project Manager (PM) will be matched, and support will be given to each company within 40 million won per year, including the establishment of a corporate growth plan and R&D planning, and companies with excellent performance will be given within 40 million won per year. In the following year, the company will be able to receive funding for commercial R&D projects within 200 million won (up to two years).

The province selected 15 star companies for the first time in 2018, and plans to discover and foster a total of 75 star companies by 2022.
